LLT – Lexicology, Lexicography and Terminology

The group pursues fundamental research in the scientific areas of Lexicology, Lexicography and Terminology, focusing on the lexicon, vocabularies and terminologies and on their implication in the knowledge about language, communication and society, considering perspectives from Lexical Semantics, Corpus Linguistics, Computational Linguistics, Metalexicography, Lexicodidatics and different theoretical and methodological terminological approaches. The research aims at the study and applications of monolingual, bilingual and multilingual lexica, as well as vocabularies and terminologies for lexicographical, terminological, ontological and computational purposes.

Specialized lexicography, teaching-learning lexicography and specialized communication, stemming from fundamental research, are also the subject of study, being neology, neonymy and lexical semantic phenomena transversal to the research pursued.

In addition to building resources that respond to specific knowledge organization and communication needs – Ontologies, Databases, Lexica –, the group also contributes actively to an innovative society through research and development of knowledge-based computational applications.
