Decoding HEREDITARY: making health data understandable through visual analytics

NOVA FCSH, as a partner in the European project HEREDITARY, through the  Research Center for Linguistics at NOVA University Lisbon (CLUNL), joins the dissemination of the new Demos & Visualisation Components Portal.

Understanding complex health data remains one of the main challenges in research and healthcare systems. Within the scope of the HEREDITARY project, visual analytics tools have been developed to transform multimodal data — including clinical, genomic, imaging and microbiome data — into clearer and more interpretable information.

The new portal brings together a set of interactive demonstrators, showcasing different approaches to data exploration, semantic analysis, interpretability of artificial intelligence models, and visualization of biomedical information. In total, the platform includes around 15 demonstrators, highlighting the work developed by several partners of the consortium.

Developed within Work Package 5 (WP5) and coordinated by Technische Universität Graz, this portal represents the latest addition to the HEREDITARY project website, bringing together contributions from different research areas and promoting an integrated approach to health data analysis.

By facilitating the exploration and understanding of complex biomedical information, these tools contribute to more accessible, transparent and impact-driven research, supporting the development of innovative solutions in the health domain and strengthening trust in data and scientific processes.

In this context, NOVA FCSH’s participation, through CLUNL — carried out by researchers from the LLT Group, Rute Costa, Margarida Ramos, Ana Matilde Canelas and Ana Mouro — forms part of the project’s collaborative effort, contributing to the development and dissemination of these approaches at the intersection of data, language and health.
