
Sara Carvalho is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Languages and Cultures at the University of Aveiro, where she teaches in the areas of terminology, specialized translation, English linguistics, and technical communication.
She holds a PhD in Linguistics (Lexicology, Lexicography, and Terminology) and in Sciences de l’Information et de la Communication, through a joint supervision agreement between NOVA University Lisbon and the Communauté Université Grenoble Alpes. She also holds a Master’s degree in German Studies – specialization in German Linguistics – from the University of Aveiro, and a Bachelor’s degree in Modern Languages and Literatures, English and German Studies, from the Faculty of Arts and Humanities of the University of Coimbra.
She is a full member of the Centre for Languages, Literatures, and Cultures at the University of Aveiro and a research collaborator at the Linguistics Research Centre of NOVA University Lisbon. She is also a member of ISO’s TC 37 “Language and Terminology” and of the Portuguese Institute for Quality’s CT 221 “Terminology, Language and Languages”. Her research focuses on the intersection between terminology and ontologies, particularly in the medical field, as well as on lexicography, language teaching for specific purposes, and technical communication.
