Ana Sousa Martins holds a degree in Modern Languages and Literatures (Portuguese Studies) from the Faculty of Arts and Humanities of the University of Porto, and a degree in Modern Languages (Anglo-American Studies) from the Faculty of Arts and Humanities of the University of Coimbra. She holds a Master’s degree in Portuguese as a Foreign and Second Language from the University of Coimbra and both a Master’s and a PhD in Portuguese Linguistics from the University of Porto. She also completed a postdoctoral research project on Second Language Portuguese acquisition at the Faculty of Arts and Humanities of the University of Lisbon, funded by the Portuguese Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT) (Ref. SFRH/BPD/40498/2007).
She is an Integrated Researcher at the Centre of Linguistics of NOVA University Lisbon (CLUNL). She is the author of 15 books (2 on linguistic research and pedagogy and 13 dedicated to the teaching of Portuguese as a Foreign Language), as well as approximately 50 scientific articles and conference papers presented at national and international conferences.
She is the founder and coordinator of the Ciberescola da Língua Portuguesa (www.ciberescola.com).
