New published work: “SKOS as a key element for linking lexicography to digital humanities”
Rute Costa, Ana Salgado and Bruno Almeida, researchers at the LLT group of NOVA CLUNL, collaborated in the ebook Information and Knowledge Organisation in Digital Humanities, edited by Koraljka Golub and Ying-Hsang Liu, with the chapter “ SKOS as a Key Element for Linking Lexicography to Digital Humanities”.
In this chapter, the relationship between digital humanities, information science and lexicography is analysed, exploring new possibilities and challenges and revisiting lexicographic theories and practices resulting from the need to digitise dictionaries. Methodology applied to Vocabulário Ortográfico da Língua Portuguesa (Orthographic Vocabulary of the Portuguese Language; VOLP-1940) is described, aiming at promoting accessibility to cultural heritage content while fostering reusability (find more information about this ongoing project at CLUNL here.)
