New published article: “Argumentação em Gêneros Orais e Escritos”
A new article co-authored by Carla Teixeira, a researcher in the G&T – Grammar and Text group of CLUNL, has been published.
Entitled “Argumentation in Oral and Written Genres: possibilities for didactic intervention in the school context”, the article, written in partnership with the researcher Rosalice Pinto, is part of a dossier celebrating the twentieth anniversary of the publication of the book Oral and Written Genres at School in the 24th volume of the journal Linguagem em (Dis)curso.
Abstract: Argumentation, as a plurisemiotic practice based on a variety of oral and written text genres, is central to the participatory development in society and the experience of full citizenship. This work, guided by the epistemological assumptions of socio-discursive interactionism and by its didactic dimension, aims to show the relevance of teaching argumentation from a text genre perspective and to propose a didactic approach to text genres (oral and written) with argumentative potential, focusing on themes that are relevant to young people’s daily lives. To this end, a top-down analysis methodology will be followed to study texts with argumentative potential and topics that are attractive to students, in order to propose a didactic intervention model that differs from more traditional proposals. Still, in a seminal phase, the study requires an evaluation of the implementation of the proposal in the classroom.
