EuroSLA35: call for papers

The Linguistics Research Centre of NOVA University Lisbon is proud to announce that the 35th Annual Conference of the European Second Language Association (EuroSLA 35) will take place in Lisbon, Portugal, from 24 to 27 June 2026.

Submissions are welcome in all areas and approaches to the study of second, foreign, or additional languages, as well as bilingualism and multilingualism.

Abstract submission information

Abstracts must be submitted in English via SoftConf (account required).

Deadline for submission: 5 December 2025
Notification of acceptance: 20 February 2026
Length of abstracts: 500 words max.

Types of presentations

Individual papers (20-minute presentation + 5-minute Q&A)
Posters
Doctoral workshop papers (15-minute presentation + 10-minute discussion)

The working language of the conference is English, but presentations are also welcome in other European languages.

Evaluation of abstracts
All proposals will be evaluated anonymously by three members of the EuroSLA 35 Scientific Committee. Evaluation criteria include:
. Quality of the research design
. Organization and clarity of the abstract
. Originality and potential contribution to the field
. Evidence of good scientific practice (e.g., sharing of data and materials, preregistration)

Several stipends will be available for doctoral students. Applications must be sent to eurosla35@fcsh.unl.pt by Friday, 5 December 2025 and must include:
. Name, institution, and institutional address
. Official confirmation of PhD student status
