GRATO 2027: Call for Papers Open

The Grammar & Text Research Group of the Research Center for Linguistics at NOVA University Lisbon (CLUNL) invites submissions of abstracts for the 10th International Conference on Grammar & Text (GRATO 2027), under the theme “Grammar & Text: Traditions, Tensions, Evolutions”. The conference will take place on 1, 2 and 3 July 2027 at NOVA FCSH (Avenida de Berna Campus), Lisbon.

Since 2009, GRATO has established itself as a forum for scientific exchange and debate on the relationships between Grammar, Text and Discourse, bringing together researchers from different theoretical and methodological backgrounds and fostering discussion on topics related to text and discourse linguistics, morphology, and semantics, from both synchronic and diachronic perspectives.

At a time marked by profound social and technological transformations, this 10th edition seeks to reflect on current challenges in linguistic research and is structured around four main thematic strands:

  • Traditions, tensions and evolutions in Grammar, Text and Discourse studies;
  • Literacies, teaching and training: continuities and transformations;
  • Methodologies of analysis: legacies, articulations and innovation;
  • Contemporary discursive practices: norms, tensions and reconfigurations.

The conference will feature keynote lectures by Joana Vieira Santos (University of Coimbra), Carmen Vanesa Álvarez Rosa (University of Salamanca) and María Teresa García Godoy (University of Granada).

Important dates:
  • Abstract submission deadline: 30 November 2026;
  • Notification of acceptance: 29 January 2027.
