NOVALing Lab
The NOVALing Lab is CLUNL’s newly established laboratory for language studies. The facility is designed to provide appropriate conditions for the collection of speech, language, and communication data, thereby supporting and expanding CLUNL’s research activities in areas such as corpus linguistics, experimental phonetics and phonology, language acquisition and processing, experimental syntax, clinical linguistics, digital humanities, computational language and linguistic processing, and text and discourse linguistics.
The laboratory is fully accessible to wheelchair users and individuals with reduced mobility
and provides appropriate facilities for conducting studies with both child and adult participant populations.
The laboratory is located in Room 132A (1st Floor) of the Colégio Almada Negreiros building and includes:
- Acoustically treated walls
- Sound-insulated doors
- A self-illuminated and ventilated soundproof booth
- A Tobii Pro Spectrum® 1200 Hz stationary eye-tracker
- A Tobii Pro Fusion® 250 Hz portable eye-tracker
- Specialized software for data collection and visualization (Tobii Pro Lab®)
- A laptop computer dedicated to data collection using the stationary eye tracker
